How can i convert these great songs ive collected over the years and have meaning into ringtones for my phone. ive tried alot of different things but the phone wont let it be used as a ringtone. I can use them as message alerts but not ringtones. i have a w810i sony ericsson phone. Thanks.

I’m assuming that your phone has the provider-specific firmware; apparently the software that they use makes it so that your ringtones have to be 30 seconds and under to be used. =[ It’s a sad fact, but you can download freeware programs (I recommend Audacity with the LameMP3 encoder. You’ll find both in the link in source) and cut sections of the song yourself to use as a ringtone.
If you want to use a whole song, you might want to consider “flashing” your phone to the original Sony Firmware. You can do this yourself or visit a website that offers the service for a price and can be installed through the USB Data Cable (e.g. )
Well the one thing that i have found that works for me, granted that i don’t use the same phone as you, is i downloaded a program called coolringer 1.0. you can just do a google search to find this free program. All it does is take a clip of the song, that you determine both its starting and stopping time, and makes it so it can be used as a ringtone. The reason i believe your phone wont let you use your mp3’s as ringtones is because the files are too large. I’m sure that there is a way that you can hack your phone to be able to do so but who needs a 3 minute ringtone anyways.
