Gamefly online rental review

January 16th, 2009

My review of Gamefly may be strange, but its one of the services that I just said to myself, “I should have thought of this”. With that said no all good ideas work, and this great idea that worked for me may not work for you.

To find out if its right for you ask yourself how much you spend on video game rentals? if you spend more than $20 then this service is right. You will spend far less and get way more.

Many companies try and compete but non can stay on the same level. But Gamefly is not perfect and has many flaws. If you look around the many game forums you will notice a couple different sayings, “I dont like Gamefly, ” I love Gamefly”, and “why isn’t everyone using this service.

2 major problems that I see with the online game rental websites. One is they use the US mail service to ship there products. And that to many is very slow. Taking a week to send games across the country just does not work. Sometime fast, sometimes slow. Who can ever tell what will happen. Until these online game rental companies find a way to ship over night with Fedex or UPS then the problem will always exist. Gamefly opened up a second center to ship, but the problem is still there. Gamefly says they are opening up more stores but that is just rumors for now.

The second problem I see is the game selection. Especially new game releases. If you want the latest and hottest game then Gamefly is not your service. But you should want that, since that is one of the companies strong selling points. Why pay $50 every week for a new game when you can pay $15. Most people get disappointed with this selling points.
