How do I watch movies from my MacBook Pro on my TV?

I have a MacBook Pro and I want to be able to watch movies I have in .avi format on my television. My TV is about 4 years old, so it is not HD and I would need to run it through the Y-cable (red, yellow, white). What kind of converter and/or cables to I need to do this?

You need this to get the video to play on your TV (it uses the yellow jack on your TV and the mini Dvi jack on your macbook pro):
