What do you know about federal grants?

They are impossible to get unless you are a minority or work for the government. You might be able to get one if you actually invent something that will advance mankind or open a charity. Good luck but I sincerely doubt it in today’s economy.
I know that for some reason, a lot of people here at Yahoo Answers are under the mistaken impression that there are government grants out there which will help private citizens pay their mortgage, or their household bills, or buy them a new car. That’s totally false.
There *are* grants out there for certain specific purposes (education is the big one — that’s the Pell Grant) but you need to meet a very narrow set of requirements to qualify for them. The real site to find out about what government grants are available is
